Submit a Story
Deadman's Reach welcomes submissions from writers, artists, adventurers, musicians, archeologists, paleontologists and undertakers with an entertaining story to tell.
Please only submit content to us if you are the owner of all intellectual property rights of that content. This means, for example, that you own the copyright for the text as well as any photo or illustration rights. If you are a writer collaborating with a photographer or illustrator, the submission must be from both of you.
We are particularly interested in true stories that embody the tagline Served in Bed Raises the Dead™: that is, a harrowing experience where you triumphed over death or difficulty. We also accept ghost stories and stories that involve long-dead cultures (archeology) or long-dead animals (paleontology). (No roadkill, please.) If you have an amazing piece of short fiction, we will consider it but we are primarily looking for true stories. If it's poetry, it must be jaw-droppingly awesome. Please try to keep it under 1200 words. Please have a qualified person proof your work before you submit it. Preference will be given to material that has not been published elsewhere on the web (with the exception of your own website).
We are looking for professional quality work which ties into the Deadman's Reach theme in some way: musicians, illustrators, photographers, tattoo artists, painters, video artists (including documentary work) will be considered. (Video artists, we prefer to embed videos from sites like YouTube or Vimeo - please only send links to your work.)
The Do Nots:
Please do not send unsolicited PDFs, zipped images, links to FTP sites or file-sharing sites, or very large files. Please do not submit any content that might be considered abusive, obscene, libelous, defamatory, racist, religious or political in nature.
The Question on Everyone's Mind ($):
No. All submissions are on a volunteer basis (think of deadmansreach.com as good place to build awareness of your work, or a fun platform for a great story).
If you have followed our guidelines and we do not choose to post your work, please do not take it personally – the reasons could include everything from not having enough coffee that day to being overwhelmed with other things. So keep doing what you are doing, transforming your culture into a more extraordinary human experience.
Send submissions to email@example.com - please contact us about submissions only by email.
